3 Years Old

February 7th our sweet boys turned 3!  It is so hard to believe how quickly the time has passed.  It truly feel like it was  yesterday that we were praying for their safe arrival.  We were blessed with two beautiful and healthy babies that have grown into the most amazing little boys!

Our firstborn son, Benjamin James, is such a curious and happy boy.  He always has a smile on his face and rarely stops talking, asking questions and trying to figure out exactly how everything works.  Ben is very much a perfectionist, he likes to have everything a certain way and hates to disappoint us.  He can be shy when he is away from us but at home he takes his role of big brother very seriously and is definitely the leader.  He often tells McLean what to do and is always helping out with his baby sister.

McLean Alexander is such a sweet, tenderhearted and affectionate boy.  He constantly tells Gene and I that he loves us and will come up and give us a hug.  He loves to cuddle and he loves Mickey Mouse.  He would cuddle up in the chair and watch Mickey all day if we would let him! He is so intelligent and can “read” several of his books.  He reads Goodnight Moon every night.  He is so outgoing and never meets a stranger.

Though the two of them could not be more different, they really are best friends.  I pray that never changes!

The boys attend a Mother’s Day Out program at church two days a week.  They have made some good friends and it is so sweet to hear them talk about their friends when they are away from school.  They do the most amazing projects at school and are always so proud to show me what they made that day!  They learn new songs and love to sing!  And the most special thing is to hear them talk about Jesus.  Other than our home, the place they spend the most time is at church.  I am so thankful that they hear about Jesus away from home too and that He is already a very real and important part of their lives.

We are not having a party for them until the end of the month, but we couldn’t let the special do go by without celebrating!

They were thrilled to wake up and find balloons on their chairs!

And even more excited about doughnuts and chocolate milk for breakfast!

It just so happened that pajama day at school fell on their birthday.

They were thrilled to share cookies with their classmates while wearing their pj’s!

Of course no birthday would be complete without gifts!

Catching Up

Too much time has passed since my last post!  Here is what we were up to in November…..

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.        I Chronicles 16:34DSC_0815a

It was another busy month for our family and so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!  Baby girl turned 4 months old, she is smiling, laughing, rolling from back to belly and growing much too quickly! At her 4 month appointment she weighed 15 lbs, 1 oz {77%} and was 25.9” in long {93 %}.  She is such a sweet girl, happy all of the time and truly a joy!

She tried solids {rice cereal} for the first time….and was not a huge fan!

The boys came home from their Thanksgiving Feast at church with Indian costumes they “made”

And sweet turkeys made from their handprints

We made the annual trip to Indiana to spend Thanksgiving with the Beasleys. It is so wonderful to be with family and I love the familiar feeling of home when we go to the city where I was born and where my grandparents have always lived.

One of our family traditions growing up was to meet at Zaharakos which is an old fashioned ice cream parlor.  They have recently renovated and reopened the restaurant; it is so fun to take my children back to a place where I have such fond memories!
