Piper

I know you all have been dying to see this precious little girl.....so here she is. Such a sweet little bundle of joy! And look at all of that hair!

She's here!

My niece, Piper Elizabeth Maitland, was born on May 29 at 2:08 am west coast time. She was 7lbs 2 oz and 18 3/4" long. Please continue to pray for this new family after a long, 18 hours, of labor and as they adjust to life with a newborn! I will post pics when I have them!

Congratulations Paige and Trevor! I could not be more excited!

One Fine Saturday

We started our very busy, but packed with fun day at a birthday party for a sweet little friend of the boys. Happy birthday Rebecca! It was held at an indoor inflatable playhouse. Let me say that I was not too thrilled with the idea of it at the beginning; I am a complete germ-a-phobe. But, it turned out to be great! The boys had a fabulous time, and I mean all three of my boys.

They bounced... They went down the slide...
again....and again..... and yet again... Daddy is tired! But still smiling! Everyone else had a great time too... After a bath and a nap it was time to play again! It was so pretty outside, the boys thought they would take their cars for a drive.

Down the driveway... And then back up again... (Do you see a theme here?)
McLean fell and got a boo-boo
But Mommy made it better with a kiss and a band-aid

After Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a feast of crab legs and fries, yummy!
the boys ended the day by enjoying some popsicles in the backyard

A Happy Day

It was a wonderful Mother's Day here in our little part of the world. I hope all the other Moms had a great day too!

We have been a busy bees all week doing a few little projects. As you can see above, the boys made their grandmothers and great-grandmothers a precious card. They are quite the little artists, if I say so myself! I wish I had been able to take a picture of them playing in the paint, it was priceless. But, it was a two man job just to make sure the paint ended up on the paper and not all over the rest of the house. And, as we are currently on man-on-man defense around here, there was no one left to take any pictures.
I recently saw these cute favor baskets online and thought I would give them a try. They are so cute and pretty easy to do. They each hold a cupcake and a chocolate sunflower topper.

They made my table setting so festive and perfect for our Mother's Day celebration.

We spent the afternoon with both of our parents, who were nice enough to make the drive up here. As usual, we headed downtown and started off with a delicious brunch at Liberty, and then walked down Main Street to see the sights at Artisphere. I love how our little city always has so much to do!

We took a break to cool off and let the boys splash in the fountain..

They loved it!Ben was so excited, I love his expression!
And of course we still managed to squeeze in a few family photos, although I must admit these are certainly not our best effort...

And then we headed home for ice cream cake!

Cuddling with my boys to thank them for a perfect day!

Just for fun

In addition to all of the sewing I have been doing for Two Little Monkeys, I have also done a few cute little things for fun.

First is a diaper cake I made for my friend Laura, who's shower I hosted here in April. She is having a little boy, Preston Thomas, due at the end of June. I can't wait to hold that little sweetie!

Second is one of the moses baskets the boys used as newborns. They were cute as can be before, but my sister wanted to use it for her little girl. So, I made a new bumper and pad for the inside and now it perfect for little Piper. And, as requested from Paige, not pink!

So, since I know you have been dying to know, that is what I have been doing with my free time when I am not making clothes!

Bye Bye April, Hello May

I can hardly believe it is already May! Traveling back and forth to Columbia almost every weekend in April made the month fly by. Whew, we are exhausted, but glad to be home now and we plan to stay put for awhile. At least until the end of the month!

This weekend was so special as we celebrated the life of Gene's grandfather. We had a beautiful service and it was wonderful to see how many people have been touched by his life.

Although we have been busy, we are still having fun with the boys. How could we not, they are such a reminder of the blessing of life as they run around laughing and playing even in the midst of a sad time.

We decided it was finally time to turn the boys' seats around in the car. So, now they are big boys and love riding facing forward.

I think Ben is irritated that I interrupted his reading to take a picture.
McLean, however, was happy to make a silly face for the camera!

The boys missed several naps this weekend, so there were times when they were so tired they would actually let you hold them. I am glad we captured this on film!

One of the boys' favorite things to do at my parents house is swing. I am so glad they have a nice big swing set there for them, they love it! I know what our first purchase will be when we move!
We love to take the boys to get ice cream at Brusters, they get a free cone and Mommy and Daddy get a treat too! We usually scoop the ice cream out of the cone and then throw the cones away, or Gene eats them. This time, once they ate the ice cream first, we let them eat the cones too. They had a blast and of course McLean tried to eat his in about 3 bites.
