Finally September

Thank goodness August is finally over. It was a very stressful month! Hopefully, I won't have to have surgery again for quite some time. I hate not being able to pick up my boys! We have been so blessed with friends and family helping out. We couldn't have done it without them!

This weekend we were able to get out of the house for the first time in awhile. Both sets of grandparents were in town for the holiday weekend so we had brunch at Liberty Taproom, one of my new favorites, and then to walk around downtown for a bit. Then on Monday Mom and I did some much needed shopping. That was fun!

Since I haven't updated since their 6 month check up, below are their stats. Of course they are much bigger already and this week I ordered their new "big boy" car seats. I can't believe they have already outgrown their infant carriers. 7 months ago they barely fit in them!

Ben: 17 lbs 5 oz, 27" long

McLean: 17 lbs 10 oz, 27 1/4" long

Funny Faces

Ben and McLean are constantly doing new things, but one of the funniest things lately has been the faces they are making. It never fails to make Gene and I laugh. McLean loves sticking out that tongue and if you stick yours out at him, he will almost always stick his out at you! Ben just sucks in his lips like an old man that lost his teeth! They are always playing and are now rolling everywhere! The other day, I was lucky enough to capture McLean sharing his toy with Lucy and vice-versa. Ben loves to sit in the Bumbo and play with the toy. He also thinks it is hilarious that he can take his paci out of his mouth and even put it back in sometimes. They keep us thoroughly entertained!

IOPSCUSA

We spent this past weekend at the beach. It was the boys first time to see the ocean and they had a great time. They love being outside and McLean especially enjoyed playing in the water. We stayed with a good friend of Gene's family and had a wonderful time visiting and catching up with her. She was so sweet and watched the boys while we had a date and went to our new favorite, Shem Creek Bar and Grill. Yummy Yummy. We also got a chance to spend some time with Gene's sister which was great. The boys don't get to see either one of their aunts enough! The beach is probably my favorite place to be and I think we are going to have two more beach bums in the family.

Independence Day

We had such fun celebrating the Fourth this year! Not only was it the boy's first, but we traveled to Indiana where most of my family got to meet them for the first time. It was about an 8 1/2 hour ride in the car, but the boys did great! We had such a good time visiting with family and introducing them to Ben and McLean. We hate being so far away, but we love all of you and can't wait to see you again soon!

4 months old

Saturday, the boys turned 4 months old! We went today for their 4 month well check-up. Besides the 4 shots, everything went really well. Ben weighs 14 lbs 2 oz and was 24 1/4 in. long. McLean is a little bigger than his brother at 14 lbs 5 oz and 24 1/2 in. long. The pediatrician gave us the go ahead to start cereal and in a few days start vegetables. He was very happy with the boy's progress and they were very happy to play with their reflections in the mirror.

They are talking, laughing and really starting to interact with each other now. McLean has found his thumb and loves it, he always has it is his mouth. Ben keeps doing new things and last night he was even sitting up a little on his own. This summer has been so busy and fun already! We have gone to the pool a few times and they really seem to enjoy the water. We have gone to a Greenville Drive game with friends. Mostly, Gene and I are having a blast watching them discover and try new things every day!

Photos

We recently had the boys first photos done with our favorite photographer, Lonnie Hoke. He and his wife did our wedding photography as well and it was so fun to go back and see them again with the boys. They did an amazing job!

A very special weekend

Not only was this Sunday my first Mother's Day, but we also dedicated our precious sons to the Lord. After church, we had a luncheon at our home. It was so nice to have a day to celebrate these boys with our family and close friends. The boys looked so handsome in their smocked white outfits!
